There are lots of generous studios here in the MMORPG genre, and lots that do charity work – but few of them prep it as far in advance as Daybreak. The EverQuest franchise studio announced this week its plans for November’s Extra Life fundraising.

“Darkpaw Games is once again reaching out to EverQuest and EverQuest II friends to help change kids’ health, and we’ve kicked off our Extra Life fundraising efforts along with our global Daybreak Games Super Team page,” the studio says. “And that this year, as in years past, we’re back to supporting our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, a nonprofit, 511-bed pediatric care facility and the region’s only pediatric trauma center.”

The studio is trying to raise $115K by November 8th and has anted up with $5K to start the pool. Last year, the combined might of the EverQuest, EverQuest II, DC Universe Online, and PlanetSide 2 playerbases brought in over $150K for the charity, and the year before that, ExtraLife named Daybreak its partner of the year.

There’s a little something in it for MMO players too. The studio has already spelled out what rewards it’ll grant players and when, both individually and collectively and depending on which server you’re on. Group-wise, players can look forward to increasingly bonkers experience boosts and drop chances. Individual donors in EQII will pick up special titles, advancement potions, a mercenary, and a familiar, while classic EverQuest donors could score experience buffs, a blue cat metamorph, sunglasses, and a sweet mount. In fact, the EverQuest tiers go up to $1000 for some glasses and a gold-colored title.

We don’t see posts for DCUO or PS2 just yet, but we’re guessing they’re coming. In the meantime, you can scope out the studio’s ExtraLife landing page.
