“What can happen if the Emissary isn’t around to stop something? What does quitting a four-dimensional job do to a three-dimensional brain?” These are apparently things that players of Destiny 2 are going to want to consider as the looter shooter moves closer to the release of The Edge of Fate with a new story-related teaser trailer.Play Destiny 2

Much of what’s being showcased may sound very weird for those who haven’t kept up with the game’s narrative to this point, but even so there’s a bit of a recap about the lead up to this next expansion’s story, which focuses around Orin vacating her position as Emissary of the Nine to train her replacement and totally head to a normal and comfortable post-metaversal superbeing life. Surely there will be nice croissants and lots of comfy gardening ahead for her.

Of course there’s more than just story to look at, as the video also gives a rough look at the upcoming zone of Kepler, its more open world combat focus, and especially its world tier system. World tiers one and two are available immediately, while tiers three and four are opened after completing either of the two previous tiers. Generally speaking, tiers one and two are similar to brave and legendary campaigns, while later tiers are closer to exotic missions or a master-level Nightfall respectively. As for rewards, shinies naturally get shinier the higher the world tier, all the way up to entirely unique armor sets.

In the meantime, the final week of the current Year 7 is full of things for players to dig in to, including another series of instance rotators, the Rite of the Nine Lootapalooza event, and perhaps most importantly to those who haven’t bought in heavily to the game, full free access to previous expansions The Witch Queen, Lightfall, and The Final Shape between now and July 22nd.
