The changes for the top end of play in Dune Awakening continue today, as Funcom’s latest patch for the game has made more tweaks for the Deep Desert and Landsraad that will ideally make the endgame portion of the survival MMO a bit more palatable.
For the Deep Desert, more Tier 6 resources can be found across wider regions of the PvE zones, a more random respawn timer for unique loot containers has been applied, and a selection of unique level loot drops can be found.
Additionally, players who are performing kill or delivery Landsraad tasks will still be able to turn them in after a Landsraad tile is cleared, with players instead getting personal contribution for doing so – a change that appears to be angled towards addressing large guilds eliminating rewards for solo and small group players.
The patch has also brought an increased delay for leaving a PvP security zone from five to 30 seconds in order to prevent border camping, increased spawn rates for small and medium spice fields, split up plastanium tier crafting component spawns across several different locations, and applied a few fixes.
The patch regrettably arrived with some fairly sizable errors, namely connection issues and some sudden reversion of PvE Deep Desert sections back into FFA PvP, but the former issue is being addressed and the latter will reset with the next coriolis storm. In the meantime, players are warning anyone who has built a base in a specific area to protect it from the threat of sudden attack, while the Landsraad adjustments seem to have landed well among players. No word on addressing the latest griefing tactic, however.
