We already knew that Diablo IV was making a killing on cash shop purchases, with over $150 million in revenue generated by September of last year, but until recently, these were more macrotranscations than “micro.” That’s sort of changed, as Blizzard introduced $5 skin bundles into the online ARPG, but this move is not exactly thrilling the local populace.
As Gamespot reports, these Season 9 bundles are themed around specific classes and offer six reskins for about $5 worth of currency. So why aren’t players that happy with them? As some note, these skins are incredibly close or even identical to the cosmetic look you can get with in-game gear.
“Please spend money on awful skins that didn’t sell otherwise,” one player sarcastically said. Another noted, “I wouldn’t buy these hideous armors if [they were] $1 and came with free coffee.”
And as many people pointed out, cosmetics in Diablo IV don’t make that much sense as it’s difficult to actually make out the finer details of what your character is wearing.
