EVE Online invites players to light each other on fire during a visual effects public test this week

Fewer things are more satisfying in internet spaceship combat than seeing your munitions cause small explosions and fires to your opponent. If you’re looking for that kind of pyromania experience in EVE Online, then make sure to carve some time out of your weekend as the Singularity PTS will launch another Smoke and Fire mass test starting this Thursday, July 24th.

Regular players may recall that this is the second such test that CCP Games has held; the first time was this past June when the game first introduced fire and smoke visuals as enemy ships experienced hull damage. This second test isn’t changing these visuals so much as ironing out some wrinkles, particularly a fix for crashing that players were experiencing when warping around in the June PTS build.

Testing is scheduled to start on Thursday, July 24th, and will run for a couple of hours initially from 1:00 p.m. EDT to 3:00 p.m. EDT, after which the server will remain open for the duration of the upcoming weekend. So if you like to light ’em up (in-game), you’ve got some plans to make and download instructions to follow.
