Amazon is 3 for 3 this week as its third MMORPG, Lost Ark, is officially releasing its Welcome to Paradise patch this afternoon. “This update introduces the new Paradise progression system, including Elysian, Crucible, and Hell, plus Aegir Solo, solo mode improvements, quality of life changes, and system updates,” the studio says. “Rounding off the release is the return of Mokoko Bootcamp.”
The highlight of the update really is Paradise; it’s basically a “experimental” solo mode meant to help players rush through progression, with multiple different maps and activities.
“The true combat depth only begins once your new seasonal gear called Legacy of Paradise power reaches a certain level. For example, Paradise: Hell features a wide variety of unknown content and hidden mechanics, encouraging constant exploration and challenges. It will have an easy difficulty so that it’s accessible to all players. At a high level, the goal of this system is twofold; deliver fresh experiences and give players an easy method of acquiring rewards on a per character basis for faster progression. Paradise is a new type of seasonal content with weekly activities that can be completed on each character. Season One will run from July 23 through November 12. It will provide both weekly and seasonal rewards, split into three distinct activities—Elysian, Crucible, and Hell. Your character must be Item Level 1580+ and clear the quest Blazing Flame of War in Kurzan South to participate.”
The patch also revives Mokoko Bootcamp, which is a newbie-friendly event for vets, and the Maharaka Festival, which is Lost Ark’s pirate-themed summer event island. Yes, you can swim in the pool. Finally, the skin collection book has arrived, and though it sounds macabre, it’s basically a UI system that collects players’ skins and skin tweaking tools.
Servers went down at 4 a.m. EDT this morning and won’t be back online until 2 p.m. EDT, so don’t expect it back up by your lunch hour.
