What we know about Guild Wars 2’s Visions of Eternity specs (so far)

When Guild Wars 2 announced Visions of Eternity last week, it didn’t offer a full preview of the nine elite classes on deck. The full rundowns are expected in chunks of three for the next three weeks for people who are watching ArenaNet’s Twitch channel at 3 p.m. EDT in the afternoon on Fridays.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t know anything. ArenaNet has actually slipped out several specs so far. For example, we know the Mesmer is getting the Troubadour spec, the Elementalist the Evoker spec, and the Thief the Antiquary spec; those were finally matched last Wednesday after much grumbling about the teases in the trailer and screenshot dump.

Did you call it? Mesmer (Troubadour) , Elementalist (Evoker), and Thief (Antiquary) elite specs were revealed in the announcement trailer for Guild Wars 2 – Visions of Eternity! Starting next week, dive into 3 new specs weekly with news on Wednesdays and livestreams Fridays at noon PT. #GW2 #VoE

Then on Saturday, ArenaNet confirmed the names of two more specs: the Galeshot and Luminary. Lots of weird complaints about old-fashioned names on Twitter over these. It’s possible the screenshot included is deceptive, but that sure does look like a fire pet (maybe a fox?) to us.

You know the Troubadour, Evoker and Antiquary now – who do you think gets Galeshot and Luminary? #VoE #GW2

Finally, though we don’t have names or classes confirmed yet, ArenaNet most definitely teased some sort of classic Guild Wars Paragon-esque and Ritualist-esque throwback, with colors that look a bit like the Warrior and Necro.

With Mesmer/Troubador, Elem/Evoker, Thief/Antiquary, Warrior/(Paragon), and Necro/(Ritualist) confirmed (or mostly confirmed), that leaves the Guardian, Engineer, Revenant, and Ranger to split among the Galeshot, Luminary, and three unknown spec names. Naturally, that means speculation continues; the community is assuming Galeshot for Ranger and Luminary for Guardian, in keeping with the screenshots released last week (which were titled Ranger and Guardian, respectively).

In other GW2 news, last week, buried under the news of the prepurchase for Visions of Eternity, the game did get a smol update with a chonky addition for housing fans: “The decoration density limit for homesteads has been increased, allowing twice as many decorations to be placed within the same area.”
