Every once in a while, someone will complain about the fact that we wrote about a game they don’t wanna hear about. It’s a fairly common comment, actually, and it’s one I’ve had to work hard to not take personally. Usually, the commenter isn’t really mad at us; they’re just mad at the game, and we’re the nearest target.
But also… I feel the same way. There are some MMOs that will crop up in the news, and I’m like, dammit, do we have to cover this hot mess again? And the answer is kinda no, we don’t, and nobody can really make us… but we probably should. We’re not supposed to be ignoring news just because we don’t like it. You can, but we shouldn’t.
I could think of a small list of games I don’t enjoy covering. Chronicles of Elyria. Shroud of the Avatar. Bless – any Bless; there are so many, really. Sunsets of pretty much everything. Star Citizen. Blech.
I’m not gonna promise to never cover these games because that’s just not how it works – but is there an MMO you wish you never had to read about again?
