The Daily Grind: Do you accept gifts and handouts in MMOs, or are you too proud?

Big price.

It’s certainly nice and even touching when MMO players generously give to one another, especially in situations where the gift makes a big difference for the recipient. Giving away those extra inventory bags or a few pieces of gold might not set back a veteran player very much, but it can be a huge boost to struggling beginners.

I long ago made it my personal policy that I will not beg in MMOs, but I’m never too proud to accept a helping hand, especially if someone’s offering. I justify this by resolving to turn about and help others as much as possible when I am in the position to do so.

How do you react to gifts from other players in MMOs? Are you grateful to receive them, or does it go against your streak of self-sufficiency?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
